Great British Menu 2019
Our Head Chef Lee Smith has been selected to compete in the 2019 series of Great British Menu, representing the South West Region.
Lee is up against a fellow Jersey chef, Joe from Number 10 and Emily from Cornwall in this seasons challenge, celebrating 50 years of British pop music.
As seen on TV, Lee's menu will be available to enjoy in the restaurant for dinner from Wednesday the 1st of May.
See more details about the menu here.
Here is a quote from Lee about his experience:
'Being part of the Great British Menu was a great experience. Not only the cooking but meeting other chefs, learning how to cook in a studio environment and also pushing myself in an unknown situation.
Working in front of the cameras was a bit nerve racking at first but the hardest part was the out of kitchen shots which felt a bit unnatural. Once I got in the kitchen and started cooking, it felt a lot more easier and I forgot that the cameras where there.
It was great to work alongside Joe from Number 10 (Jersey), and also Emily from . I’ve eaten at number 10 a few times and really enjoy what he’s doing there. So it was good to get to know Joe in person not just through is food.
The biggest high was of course getting chosen for a programme which I have watched throughout my career and seeing all of the other Chefs on the programme which I look up to. To get chosen for the programme was a real honour, and a lot of work and time went into creating my menu and practising, as well as running a busy restaurant at the same time.'
Lee's region will be airing on BBC 2 on Wednesday the 24th of April.
